Philly native SOMEONE ELSE (real name Sean O’Neal) has been on quite the creative tear since leaving the 215 for Berlin, Germany. His Foundsound and Little Helpers labels have taken off in the underground tech-house domains, and his addition to the Get Physical roster has upped his DJ visibility all around Europe. He’s been very busy in the studio with Rob as well, with one Worship release already out to the masses (WOR28 – Someone Else & Rob Paine – “Blazin’”) and another one soon to follow. An amazing talent and one of our close, dear friends, please welcome SOMEONE ELSE back for another wicked Shakedown appearance!

His diverse talent has led to a career doing everything from playing

label A&R men looking for a club edge for RnB and pop artists, his hits
include the #1 Billboard chart-topping remix of Christina Aguilera's "Ain't

FAQ’s

What should I wear?

Any costume is fantastic, but for the Battleship, think Pirates, Sailors, Military, zombies, etc. Be careful with Heels, the deck of the ship can be tricky. Much of the festival will be outside, please integrate layers & warmth into your costume.

How long is the Event?

The event runs from 10pm to 4am. Please arrive as early as possible to avoid long lines and to have the most time at this amazing experience. Arriving between 10 & 11 is highly recommended. There will be lines between 11 to 12:30

Is there parking nearby?

Yes we have secured Parking lot #1 next to the Susquehanna Center. (Old Tweeter Center) To get to Parking Lot #1, take 3rd St. south to Clinton Street & make a right on Clinton.

Is parking free?

Yes, in parking lot #1, parking is free.

Will there be a cash bar?

Yes the Bar will be open from 10pm till 2am. The bar is run by the Camden Waterfront Assoc & the Battleship.

Will there be an ATM? Yes

Is the event over 21 only?

Yes the event is 21+ ID will be checked at the door.

Does the Battleship leave the dock?

No the battleship is permanently docked. And you may leave the event at anytime.

Will I be stuck on the battleship the whole time?

No, there are activities on the Pier, Land, Battleship deck & on a floating platform. There will be no ins/outs from the event however.

What is the bathroom situation?

There is a bank of both male & female plumbed bathrooms on board the Ship. We will also have a bank of Porta Potties on the pier.

Are there buses from other cities coming?

Yes we have arranged buses from NYC, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Baltimore & DC. Please check the ticketing site for detailed information.

Will there be a coat check? Yes

Will there be food vendors? Yes, we have to food trucks on site with both vegetarian and standard fare.

Can I bring food or drink into the venue?

No, all bags will be searched, any outside food or drink is strictly prohibited.

Will a map of the event be available?

Yes we will email a map of the complete venue in PDF format to all ticket holders the week before the event.

How many sound stages will there be?

We will have four main stages, One live band stage and 3 DJ stages. We also have many other surprises in store!

Will there be fire performances?

This spring, the DJs are back in the garden at Cooper-Hewitt!

The eight-week series will feature a different DJ every week and will run Thursday nights from 6:00-9:00 p.m. (with the exception of the first week in June, when it will be a special extended night on Saturday, June 4, 6:00-10:00 p.m.).

For this year's series, Cooper-Hewitt has selected DJs from New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Boston known for their technical virtuosity and for their eclectic interpretations of house music. Each DJ has honed his craft for nearly two decades at countless underground events and high-profile venues at home and abroad, alongside house and techno luminaries such as Orbital, Richie Hawtin, Derrick Carter, Doc Martin, Cajmere, Deep Dish, and Josh Wink. Now entering its 15th year, DUB MISSION is one of the best longest running Dub parties in the world. A weekly Sunday night party at Elbo Room, Dub MIssion was started as an alternative to the typical reggae night. The idea was to present the more cutting-edge side of the music (i.e. all forms of dub and progressive roots) that had not been heard much in Bay Area clubs until then. Luckily this period of time has also coincided with a great resurgence of interest in dub through onstage performances and re-issues. Since 1996 we have presented special nights on various reggae greats including Bob Marley, Lee Perry, King Tubby, and Prince Far I, to name a few. Artists and DJs from all over the world and the U.S. have also performed at DUB MISSION. A partial list includes Adrian Sherwood & the ON-U Sound System, Mad Professor & the Ariwa Sound System, the Scientist, Zion Train, Twilight Circus Dub Sound System, Groove Corporation aka Overproof Sound System,Florian Seyberth of Boozoo Bajou, Nickodemus of Turntables on the Hudson, Tino Corp feat. Jack Dangers &, Ben Stokes, Dr. Israel & Dreadtone International, Dubblestandart, Pitch Black, Organic Grooves, Yossi Fine of Ex-Centric Sound System, Heavyweight Dub Champion, Bigga Bush, Dub Gabriel, Third Eye Tribe, International Observer and many many others. In January of 1999, DUB MISSION produced legendary dubmaster the Scientist along with the all-star Devil Dub Band (Buckethead, Brain, DJ Disk) at the Justice League. In April of the same year, we co-presented the first Bay Area appearance by the Blood & Fire Sound System featuring Trinity, Dillinger, Ranking Joe and selector Steve Barrow also at the Justice League . In September of 1999, DUB MISSION celebrated its third anniversary with a special dub set by house specialists, Dubtribe Sound System. In 2001 DUB MISSION celebrated its fifth anniversary with producer/mixmaster Adrian Sherwood's On-U Sound System featuring Ghetto Priest on the mic. In 2002 DUB MISSION turned six with an unprecendeted sound system, featuring the Scientist at the controls, Jah Yzer (Jah Warrior Shelter) on the mic, and the DUB MISSION resident DJs behind the turntables. In 2003 we celebrated our seventh with the first ever US appearance of Groove Corporation feat. Ras Tweed on the mic. In 2004, we celebrated our eighth anniversary with the return of Adrian Sherwood's ON-U Soundsystem and were nominated for " Best Party" in that year's Club World Awards. In 2005, we hosted an international dub summit with rare West Coast performances by Yossi Fine of Ex-Centric Sound System, and Cosmic, Rocker &, Zeb of Organic Grooves/Spy from Cairo fame. In 2006, Dub Mission turned 10 years old with a record-setting event featuring all the resident DJs. The following year, we celebrated our 11th anniversary with the debut of NY's Subatomic Sound System feat. MCs Jahdan Blakkamoore and Treasure Don, and in 2008, we passed the 12 year mark with Canada's Third Eye Tribe Sound System and Seattle's, DJ Collage who performed together for the first time anywhere on the DUB MISSION stage. On September 6, 2009, DUB MISSION celebrated its 13th anniversary with the return of Twilight Circus Dub Sound System and Yossi Fine of Ex-Centric Sound System and this past year we celebrated our 14th anniversary with dr. ISRAEL (Method of Defiance) and special guests. We look forward to another great year of riddims & laughter.

Shakedown first fired up the amps & boxes 6 years ago on this date to start one of the most prestige deep house events in the world. Following the DIY philosophy, we brought our own Solomonic Sound System into Silk City, booked some world renown DJ's and started throwing down every second Saturday of the month.
Going back a little further now, Worship Recordings released its first record in the winter of 1997 to begin the most sought after label that fuses dub wise elements of reggae into house music to start a whole new genre.
Doors open @ 8 pm with Live Reggae acts & free Red Stripe Beer / Food until 10 pm. Then the house music fires up at 10 pm to take you all the way to 2 am. This will be a night not to miss and will sell out early so get there for the early celebration and great live performances from Phillies finest.

Our 5 year anniversary party was incredible!!! Thank you Shakedown family!!!

We are keeping the energy going strong well into April with our guest Johnny Fiasco:

A Chicago born Native, John Lopez, known to his peers as Johnny Fiasco, grew up in the predominantly Hispanic "Pilsen" neighborhood where he was influenced by music at an early age. Johnny also began establishing his career as a DJ with a collaboration of friends who were throwing some of the first underground "house" parties in Chicago at that time.

The introductory stages of his DJ career consisted of him and his friends playing their own re-edits of songs from the radio all produced with old dual tape decks at home. Johnny landed his first residency at Smart Bar, where one year later he was joined by colleague Mark Farina. In 1990 he moved on to a club residency at the Shelter in Chicago where he refined his "house" mixing skills and released his first record "The Zig-Zag remixes" on the pioneer Chicago house label Trax Records.

In 1995 Johnny Fiasco began recording for the world renowned Chicago based label Cajual Records where he would release such hits as "Conduction" and the "Moody Grooves" EP's. He also had the honor of re-mixing the likes of such talents as Gloria Estephan, KD Lang, Tina Arena, and Donna Blakely just to name a few.

Usually we like to give you all the proper info on any dj we invite to play the Shakedown but this time I thought it more fitting to share with you an experience.

A few years ago on a very hot and humid Philly night I heard Fred Everything play at that little spot on 3rd & Girard the Aqua Lounge. This was before the renovations so the dancefloor was still really small and really packed on this particular evening! We danced our asses off for 2 hours straight while Fred worked us through deep, jazzy, funky and vocalicious house. His mixing was flawless, his selecction was incredible and his flow was seamless. By the end of the night, our clothes were soaking wet, the room was thick with sweat and we were all very, very satisfied. Honestly, this is one of my favorite memories on a dancefloor in Philly. the music was right and the vibz were super tight.

I'm sending out the "don't sleep alert" now because Fred passes through Philly very rarely and if you miss him you're gonna be sorry! Trust us;)

Maybe you've seen Pete Moss walking down the street with a smile on his face and had no idea of the catalog of work he's produced or the bad ass dj sets he's dropped. Pete has released tracks on labels like: Ovum, Earthtones, Dessous, Alola, Large, Vista, Worship, Siesta, and his own imprint Recline. I could go on but you get the point. Pete has also rocked dance floors from the US to UK, Ibiza and all around the globe. He is truly a seasoned pro!

Often we never stop to think about the contribution of the people behind the scenes. The dj's and promoters who organize parties and hustle to create events. Oï¿½keef has been a long time contributor to the underground house scene in Philadelphia starting with the ï¿½Itï¿½ and ï¿½Yomanï¿½ parties in the early 1990ï¿½s and he hasnï¿½t stopped since. Recently I heard him thrown down a wicked minimal techno set at a warehouse in Kensington!

So come out and give your support and appreciation to some of the people who give this city its flavor.

The owner and A&R of Fetish Recordings and Jackin Tracks, Joey Youngman has been producing house music since the ripe age of 11. With extensive training in classical and jazz piano, he had a strong foundation to start from. Most of Joey's early teen years were spent satisfying his obsession for making electronic music. Eventually, he fell so in love with house that he decided to focus his energy completely on it. At this point in the mid 90's, house music was flourishing in America, and Joey’s home-state of California was feeling this boom. He immersed himself in this music as much as possible, going to parties and raves up and down the California coastline. During his exploration of the house scene Youngman discovered the turntables, and realized that this was the main way that house music was being played. Up until this point he had been Djing small house parties with tape decks and CD players, but after his first experience on the decks there was no turning back.

At 14 years old, Youngman picked up his first set of turntables, and began learning how to mix records. This new craft taught him how to move people with music, and enlightened him in his own music production. Joey soon began playing at clubs and parties before he was old enough to get in the front door.

Now with over 12 years of production experience under his belt, and a huge library of releases to show for it, Joey has also taken on the role of label owner: starting Fetish Recordings and Jackin Tracks. His DJ skills have taken him all around the world to England, Belgium, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, and cities all across the United States. Joey’s discography is constantly expanding, and includes releases and remixes on some of the world’s most respected house labels. Future plans for Fetish and Jackin Tracks include a great deal of Joey's original work, and a few surprises from some new groundbreaking artists; watch out for a new release every month.

In the Early 90's, Robbie Hardkiss and his "brothers" Scott and Gavin, helped pioneer the American electronic music scene with their ground breaking record label Hardkiss Music. They quickly joined the ranks of the domestic DJ elite, and in 1995 reached legendary status with the release of their classic album, "Delusions of Grandeur." In addition to his Hardkiss productions, Robbie has released music under the names Little Wing and Boozy+Swan. The success of his original material has lead to remixing projects for a diverse group of heavy hitting artists, including Elton John, Duke Ellington, Lords of Acid, Detroit Grand Pubahs and Q-Burns Abstract Message. In addition to his critically praised production work, Robbie has become an internationally respected DJ, playing his signature funked-up house sound regularly throughout North America and as far away as the UK, Europe, South Africa, and Hong Kong.
