Worship Recordings has always been about representing the city that bred us. So much influential music has been created here in Philadelphia in the last 100 years, including the roots of disco that Gamble & Huff created through their The Sound Of Philadelphia۪ style, which was the predecessor to the house music we love. We are very proud of our city and the artists that it continues to produce. Keeping the musical ecosystem moving forward by supporting artist through our events is just one part of our duty. Another is to use our Worship Recordings label, this platform we created over 20 years ago to promote and share Philadelphia۪s thriving artist community to the rest of the world. We hope you enjoy our little contribution to this musical mecca of a city called Philadelphia.

Greetings all. This weeks "exclusive musical biscuit" is a powerful re-creation of Errol Dunkley and I-Roy's 1975 classic 'Created by the Father', constructed by Steve Walker and Bazil Perryman, the men behind the mighty Vibration lab. Opting to use little more than the original tempo and filtered vocal , the London/Brixton based duo set in on building this groove from the ground up, layering distorted guitar skanks with cleaner synth notes and employing reverb drenched snare hits to sure-up the vibe. Cap-stoned with a super punchy bass line collaborating with a bouncy hi-hat rhythm, this one is sure to exorcise any semblance of "the Monday's" that may be lurking. Produced by Vibration Lab. Released as a free download by Reggae Roast Records. 2013

Greetings all. This weeks #DubMonday selection comes via the Ivory Coast, where Jacin Jani (Gianni Cubeddu) runs his High Tension Records label and stokes his musical fire. Two wonderful mixes of this steppers track in the video. The highly energetic melodica infused original mix, and the gritty high power dub mix, which is where we're going to cue the video to start. Written and Produced by Jacin Jani. Positive Vibes 2012

Through the years many prolific artists have passed through the doors of Worship Recordings and Hakan Lidbo is without a doubt one of them. For this Worship Wednesday we exam Lidbo۪s track Trinity and it۪s Solomonic re-blessing. The track was apart of the Natty Roots EP (Wor.09) and was released back in 2000. Hailing from Sweden, Hakan Lidbo has released 100s of records on a variety of labels spread across the electronic landscape. The Swede۪s true talent lies in his versatility as a producerwith many styles developed over the years.
These multiple styles articulate Lidbo۪s passion for music production as he has yielded deep moody house with SCC Move (Underground House Foundation) all the way to the minimalism of Yellow Fingers which was released on Steve Bug۪s Poker Flat Recordings. You can also find Hakan۪s music on labels such as Tommy Boy, Moody Recordings, Skam, Ministry of Sound, and Moon Harbour. His acidic Saxophone laden track, Overnight, would find itself on Moon Harbour۪s 10 year anniversary compilation in 2010. Outside of remixing House music artists, Hankan has remixed well known rock stars Depeche Mode on their track Peace back in 2009.
With an assortment of genres on his production repertoire it۪s not a surprise that Hakan۪s approach to reggae was executed so elegantly on his release for Worship. The track fires off with a reverb۪ed high hat giving way to many sounds scattered nicely across an island riddim. Solomonic Sound, comprised of Worship Recordings label boss Rob Paine and his roots counterpart Zack Eberz, two true connoisseurs of roots and culture music, were able to bless up the track with a remix in their signature style. The true beauty behind the Solomonic boys is their ability to splice the best of house with the unadulterated rudiments of reggae. The Solomonic re-blessing is a clear picture of this truly ground breaking production style. Worship Recordings is proud to have Hakan Lidbo as part of the Worship team, and is thankful for Solomonic Sound to have had the opportunity to touchhis track.
As another wonderful year over here at Worship Recordings comes to a close, we decided to amalgamate 5 months of #DubMonday selections to form the next #WorshipPodcast, mixed byRob Paineand Ras Heights, aka, Heights & Worship. Under this moniker, 2014 has seen these two release a 7" single on Portland'sZamZam Soundslabel, with another locked in for a 2015 release, a remix forThomas Blondeton hisRhythm & Culture Musiclabel, and an ultra-heavy remix for Germany'sRazoof, released onPoets Club Records. They also have the next Worship release, WOR41, completed and cued up for an early 2015 unleashing. With more freshness in the works, 2015 looks to be equally exciting for the Philly Dub Duo. The first of many to come, this mix showcases the roots of dub music, as Heights' intention for the initial wave of #DubMonday posts was to edify the history of the genre. With tracks fromKing Tubby,Prince Jammy, Scientist,Mad Professor,Jah Shaka Official,Twinkle BrothersandAugustus Pablo, to name a few, you'll get a taste of where the music originated. Tracks fromSolomonic Sound System, Highvisators andAlpha & Omegaillustrate just how far the genre has progressed. Enjoy the mix, and stay tuned in 2015 for new Worship releases as well as the continuation of both the#WorshipPocastand the #DubMonday series'. Have a Dubby New Year !
