#WorshipWednesday: Revelation Dub EP (WOR.20)
Worship Wednesday is here and we celebrate by highlighting Army Of One۪s Revelation Dub E.P. This would mark the 20th release from the label, which saw distribution approximately August of 2004. Army of One aka Ethan Calman at the time of the release was doing well with productions on his own label Stupendous۝ and surely made his mark with his EP on Worship Recordings. The title track "Revelation dub" is aimed directly at the dance floor with detrimental effects. The track is a deep tribal, dub wise burner that without a doubt mesmerized its listeners. Solomonic Sound was gracious enough to add a remix to this EP giving the track more depth and spaced out dimensions. Please enjoy the original track below! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlufrvE6Ti0&feature=youtu.be

#WorshipWednesday: Enlighten Me EP (Wor.35)

Happy New Year to all the followers and supporters of everything Worship! We are blessed to have your continued support going into 2016. To kick off the year۪s first Worship Wednesday, we take a look at Rob Paine۪s remix of the Rootz Underground track Enlighten Me۝. The track originally appeared on Rootz Underground Gravity LP, which was released back in 2010. The collaboration began circa 2000 when Rob and the band۪s guitarist, Charles Lazarus, met in Miami. Paine and Lazarus also worked together on projects including Worship۪s Ho۪s and Bro۪s EP۝ and The Selector۪s Choice Mix compilation. Since being from Jamaica, Charles invited Rob to play New Year۪s Eve from 2003-2005, solidifying their partnership even further and a continuity of production between Philly and Jamaica. On the Remix EP Rob was able to coalesce tech۪ed out minimal dub elements that wrap neatly around the hypnotic groove of Dub Reggae. This combination has left listeners scratching their heads wondering what genre to file this under. Please enjoy and Happy New Year!

#WorshipWednesday- Solomonic Sound- Beating Heart (Original Mix)

Worship Wednesday is back and we celebrate with one of the most pivotal releases from the label. Not to say that every release isn۪t special, but Solomonic Sound۪s Beating Heart EP۝ is what shaped the early sound of Worship Recordings. Solomonic Sound is label head Rob Paine and long time friend Zack Eberz, together they created the Beating Heart EP۝ back in January of 2000. With Reggae being at the heart of both producers creatively, it was a no brainer for them to create a track with this sort of influence.

Both gentlemen are well versed in the culture of Reggae and it۪s music, which certainly shines through in the title track of the EP. Rob has explained to us that this production was extra important because it was created at the label۪s first studio on Christian street in South Philadelphia. Though a great distance separated Rob and Zack, their love for the music allowed them to consistently link to create this Dub House masterpiece. Beating Heart۝ thumps away with a circadian rhythm of dub vocal samples and Reggae elements, appearing as if they will beat on forever.

Now based out of Hawaii, you can catch Eberz pushing that classic Solomonic Sound in dancehalls around the island. Rob on the other hand is holding down Solomonic in Philadelphia with shows every last Sunday of the summer at South Bowl located on 19 E Oregon Ave. Also Rob is holding a weekly vibe every Thursday at Saint Lazarus Bar on 102 W Girard. Both events boast the best of Reggae with fine drink specials. Come celebrate with us as Worship Recordings carries on the legacy of Dub inspired music.

#WorshipWednesday- CIRCLE- Music & Emotion (Emotionally Gated Dub)

#WorshipWednesday- CIRCLE- Music & Emotion (Emotionally Gated Dub)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtQTo-AiMpQ This Worship Wednesday we revisit CIRCLE and their track Music and Emotion (Emotionally Gated Dub) off of WOR. 39, Music and Emotion EP. The track is centered around a thumping rhythm accompanied by perfectly programmed techy-ness with hints of classic house sounds. CIRCLE is the combination of two long time friends and DJ partners, Rob Paine and Keith Landis aka O۪Keef. The duo۪s early days saw them producing some of the most historical parties (with partners Kevin Gimble & Sean Thomas) hosting pretty much every major electronic artist at the time. Their parties would ignite a fire under Philadelphia and make it a destination for high quality electronic music. CIRCLE has seen many different chapters, but more recently Rob are Keith have been holding it down on the production under the Circle name. From time to time if the masses are lucky enough long time brother Sean Thomas will join the boys for a special production or event. Most recently Thomas had joined Paine and Landis for a legendary CIRCLE party at the Dolphin Tavern last spring for goodie no.23. This was without a doubt a rare and legendary performance that still echoes through the Philadelphia underground community. Stay tuned for another reunion in May. CIRCLE is not stopping any time soon. Paine and Landis have a new release on Worship coming out in late spring that features Gerhardt Koerner on vocals. On a side note, Paine & Koerner are putting the final touches on their full length under the name Rise 8. The collaborative production team's original track Gone To Deep۝ is being packaged with one wicked remix lineup. The release will see a rare Scuba remix from Philly legend King Britt, along with Sean Thomas and David Marston from Soul Clap and Wolf & Lamb Records. Gone To Deep will see a Vinyl release on May 4th and be hitting digital outlets on June 1st.

#WorshipWednesday- Rob Paine, Someone Else- Blazin (Jay Haze Remix)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cn_QBZ7cwPE

Jay Haze and his remix for the track Blazin۝ is under the spotlight for this week۪s Worship Wednesday. Blazin۝ is a tribalistic workout originally created by label head Rob Paine and long time colleague Sean O۪Neal aka Someone Else. Jay۪s version of the track keeps the tribal pace of rolling drums and indigenous vocal samples, but takes the elements to a cinematic level. It۪s that special track that a whole mix can be built around.

Haze is a Philadelphia area native who has been residing in Berlin since the early part of the 2000۪s. Since setting up camp on the other side of the pond, Jay has been responsible for churning out releases on some of the world۪s most notable underground labels. His work can be found on Bpitch, Desolat, Leftroom Records, Kindisch, Get Physical, Systematic Recordings and of course Worship Recordings. Jay has also collaborated, remixed, or has been remixed by some of the industry۪s heaviest hitters such as Tale of Us, Shaun Reeves, Gui Boratto, DJ Sneak, Guido Schneider, and Reboot. During the mid 2000۪s Jay would align himself with one of the industry۪s most legendary Producers, Ricardo Villalobos. Haze and Ricardo would share a studio together in Berlin and produce a slew of tripped out minimalistic Techno tracks.

When it comes to distributing electronic music, Jay Haze was definitely ahead of his time. Back in 2004 he created a website that would serve as a label and dance music magazine called textone.org. According to Jay۪s bio, this project would be one of the first digital outlets to work as a platform to download music. More recently Jay continues to push forward thinking music and tour the globe. Here at Worship we are very thankful to have such a cutting edge producer such as Jay Haze apart of the family and are excited for what his future holds!

#WorshipWednesday- Hakan Lidbo- Trinity- (Solomonic Re-Blessing)

#WorshipWednesday- Hakan Lidbo- Trinity- (Solomonic Re-Blessing)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJrzFa3Eld8&feature=youtu.be Through the years many prolific artists have passed through the doors of Worship Recordings and Hakan Lidbo is without a doubt one of them. For this Worship Wednesday we exam Lidbo۪s track Trinity۝ and it۪s Solomonic re-blessing. The track was apart of the Natty Roots EP۝ (Wor.09) and was released back in 2000. Hailing from Sweden, Hakan Lidbo has released 100s of records on a variety of labels spread across the electronic landscape. The Swede۪s true talent lies in his versatility as a producerwith many styles developed over the years. These multiple styles articulate Lidbo۪s passion for music production as he has yielded deep moody house with SCC Move۝ (Underground House Foundation) all the way to the minimalism of Yellow Fingers۝ which was released on Steve Bug۪s Poker Flat Recordings. You can also find Hakan۪s music on labels such as Tommy Boy, Moody Recordings, Skam, Ministry of Sound, and Moon Harbour. His acidic Saxophone laden track, Overnight۝, would find itself on Moon Harbour۪s 10 year anniversary compilation in 2010. Outside of remixing House music artists, Hankan has remixed well known rock stars Depeche Mode on their track Peace۝ back in 2009. With an assortment of genres on his production repertoire it۪s not a surprise that Hakan۪s approach to reggae was executed so elegantly on his release for Worship. The track fires off with a reverb۪ed high hat giving way to many sounds scattered nicely across an island riddim. Solomonic Sound, comprised of Worship Recordings label boss Rob Paine and his roots counterpart Zack Eberz, two true connoisseurs of roots and culture music, were able to bless up the track with a remix in their signature style. The true beauty behind the Solomonic boys is their ability to splice the best of house with the unadulterated rudiments of reggae. The Solomonic re-blessing is a clear picture of this truly ground breaking production style. Worship Recordings is proud to have Hakan Lidbo as part of the Worship team, and is thankful for Solomonic Sound to have had the opportunity to touchhis track.

#WorshipWednesday- Gary Beck- Stick to the Reggae (Original mix)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gw8Ev8fw-MA

On this edition of Worship Wednesday we take a look at a track from an artist who has become a true Techno powerhouse. Glasgow۪s Gary Beck and his Stick to the Reggae۝ tune (Wor.23) is front and center today. Released back in 2004 on Selecta۪s Choice EP۝, the track is laced with tropical percussion that is complemented nicely by sun glazed sound effects and perky brass samples. Though Beck۪s track fits the Worship mold perfectly, his sound today is big room Tech House and Techno. Over the past 5 or 6 years Gary۪s work has been found in the arsenal of some serious internationally known talent. Gary۪s music can be found destroying huge festivals such as Time Warp and Awakenings and smashing some of the world۪s leading clubs. While browsing the track lists of some of today۪s Techno royalty such as and not limited to Sven Vath, Adam Beyer, Nicole Moudaber, a Gary Beck production is more than likely at the peak of their set.

When dance music legends are not playing Gary۪s tracks, he is usually collaborating with them. Beck has teamed up with the likes of Mark Broom, Green Velvet, Jay Lumen, Nic Fanciulli, and Edit Select. The collaboration with these artists has certainly propelled Gary to be a heavily sought after DJ and producer. Though he has teamed up with highly established talent, Beck has created much attention on his own. Back in 2012 Gary released his first full-length album on Slam۪s legendary label Soma. The album entitled Bring a Friend۝ saw Beck flexing his usual razor sharp Techno but also dipping its feet into other sub genres. Institutions such as Drumcode, Electric Delux, Saved, Suara, Sleaze, and of course Worship Recordings have all released his EPs and Singles

Tracks from Gary۪s catalog have been hand selected for some of the industry۪s finest compilations appearing on Cocoon, Fabric, Balance, and Toolroom. While taking care of business with his own productions, Beck has also been busy releasing other artist۪s music with his imprint Bek Audio. Bek Audio۪s impressive roster sees release from Slam, Speedy J, Harvey McKay, Ben Sims, and Mr. G. When he is not launching his music or others, Gary Beck is headlining music festivals around the world or inside clubs from Brooklyn to Berlin all the way to Japan. Here at Worship Recordings we are absolutely thrilled and delighted to see Gary have so much success and of course to have him a part of the family.

#WorshipWednesday- Jeff Bennett- Nudging the Dub (Original Mix)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuUboVmpEPg Sweden has been known to manufacture some of the world۪s most estimable DJ/ Producers with Jeff Bennett being at the forefront. Bennett۪s relationship with Worship Recordings is through his Passages EP (Wor.18), which was released back in 2003. Passages contains three Dub influenced records, Renovating۝, Nudge Dem Solomonic, and Nudging the Dub.۝ The third track is at the center of attention for today۪s۪ Worship Wednesday. Leaning towards a more atmospheric approach to the sound Nudging the Dub۝ contains all the essential elements that make for an appropriate Worship release. The track۪s tight bass line moves with proficiency as liquid sounding percussions and a reggae styled vocal sample melt together nicely. Jeff۪s career spans over many different styles of music ranging from chill out all the way to tougher sounding Techno. According to his website, Jeff has approximately 150 singles to his name that can be found on the world۪s most esteemed labels. Bennett is also at the head of two record labels, Kun Fu Dub Records and Phunctional Loungin. Kun Fu Dub Records handles releases that are on the Tech House/ Techno end of things while Phunctional pushes an ambient sound. While scanning Jeff۪s news feed on Resident Advisor, we noticed the DJ/Producer has had some major events over the past decade and a half. Jeff۪s music would find itself on mix compilations by John Digweed, Satoshi Tomiie, James Zabiela, and Noah Pred. During the early part of the 2000۪s, Bennett۪s Strange Items۝ track would see a huge remix from Progressive House master Hernan Canttaneo. As a DJ Jeff has headlined the massive Phuture festival in Manchester, and according to his official website has played clubs such as Fabric (London), Paradiso (Amsterdam), and Ostgut (Berlin). As always, we are humbled to have an artist such as Jeff Bennett to be apart of the label۪s history and are proud to celebrate his Nudging the Dub۝ track for this edition of #WorshipWednesday.
